Mother's Daughter

BY OCEAN ESCALANTI.

On a precipice of doom
Venom viaduct

Smashed in snout- mother’s daughter

I have a rage within me

Balancing on barbed wire
And
Crescent moon tips

Gold star in aggression
Salt-lick wound

Borderline road runner

Fool’s Journey

River Indian

Drought dry
Like a
Dust bowl

Science Fiction

BY OCEAN ESCALANTI.

In utero, we (su)spend disbelief
Dollars and cents in the form
Of baby's coos

We embark on the
Fringes of freedom

Gumming good nature
Undeveloped

Suckling at a dead source
We dry up in umbilical exchange

Big book thumpers
Polishing war toys

...

BY OCEAN ESCALANTI.

The Berkeley Bowl produce section

Surprise surprise the big girl sees
The face of god in the pit of a stone fruit

She hollows out the pit and inside
Stores the secret to life

The secret being
…
