drifting
BY ALEX B. WASALINKO.
plucked wild lavender from outside the municipal building
crushed its blossoms against my wrists
pressed the milky skin beneath my nose
and inhaled.
tiptoe-balanced along concrete curbs
grease and oil sealed my soles’ worn patches
heavy-footed walked over the rotting pedestrian bridge
let each dust cloud mix with the exhaust fumes below.
blessed my room with sweet orange oil
burned sandalwood and frankincense to chase away spirits
my psychic tells me I am floating through my days --
upwards like the smoke.
addressing cosmic bodies

transcribed found poem
withdraw into crevices AMBITIOUS star
bury the clock like the sacred vastness
put aside THE RESTLESS ICON
too clumsy TOO INSPIRE
ascend wild Comet
bloom pure light above their heads
with sobering prayer -- Return to the earth,
alive, alive.
